Mobile Phones

The twentieth century gave us many great technical innovations and towards the end of it the a device came that changed the telephone forever. With the mobile phone came a new way to communicate with people – it made meeting up with people away from the house a whole lot easier whilst finding someone who is late for such a meeting was just a mobile phone call away.

Of course since they were first introduced they have changed a lot and feature a whole range of features from sms text messages, games, internet access and ringtones that vary way beyond a simple ringing.

It was in 1998 that ringtones were first sold to mobile phones and it marked the point at which the devices became their own media channel. It joined the ranks of cinema, television and computer screens to become the Fourth Screen (or third depending on how many you consider there to have been beforehand) and joined the ranks of print, cinema, radio, recordings, television and the internet to become the Seventh Mass Media.
